About the RoleThe world of email marketing is constantly evolving, and Airship?s customers must evolve along with it. The Email Specialist role at Airship is the expert in helping customers continue to see value and avoid pit-falls within the email landscape. The Email Specialist focuses on deliverability, list health, and understanding how regulatory changes and new features will impact how customers engage with their audiences. They ensure that their knowledge is shared with the rest of the Airship organization, and that our Product teams are always building for the most important features in email. We value diverse input and are looking for an Email Specialist who wants to contribute to something spectacular.About YouYou have honed your knowledge and expertise with email by working in the field. You know the difference between hard and soft bounces and how to avoid spam traps like an expert jungle guide avoiding quicksand. You regularly attend email focused conferences and eagerly wait for the latest Gmail changes to stay on top of your game. You enjoy sharing this knowledge with others, and regularly have to stop yourself from talking about ?work? at social gatherings. You critique the emails you get in your inbox as much as read them, and you know when someone is doing it right.Responsibilities- Provide assistance writing documentation, knowledge-based articles, and tutorials to improve the customer experience of Airship products and services. - Provide support on client calls to help present use cases and guide implementation- Participate in the QA process of current and new products/services and work frequently with product and engineering teams to address opportunities and product enhancements.- Maintain current knowledge of changes to the email ecosystem and the impacts changes may have on customers programs. For example how iOS 15 changes may impact email tracking.- Contribute to the development of Technical Account Management policies and procedures.- Provide guidance on best practices with implementing and maintaining Domain and IP health for customers email programs.- Provide best practice recommendations to customers to ensure proper list health and deliverability across their audience.- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions and make thoughtful recommendations to clients based on their needs and available resources.- Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution.Required Skills and Experience- 3+ years of technical client-facing experience - Advanced understanding of email deliverability and monitoring systems- Understanding of email compliance regulations (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, etc.)- 5+ years of email marketing experience- Experience working with multiple ESPs and/or MTA services.- Working knowledge of Linux and/or Mac OS X command line- Able to handle a wide range of client personas and skills sets during all phases of the customer lifecycle- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical clients- Ability to work in a team environment while working independently- Project management and leadership skills are essential- Experience developing IT and cloud infrastructure- - Experience in software engineering and design architectureOptional, but definitely a plus- Experience with AMP for Gmail- Experience working with marketing orchestration solutions- Understanding of routing and processes around SMS- Understanding of SMS compliance regulations (GDPR, CASL, CAN-SPAM)
